Interleukin 5 (IL-5) is a cytokine produced by T-cells that is essential for B-cell differentiation into antibody-secreting cells. It plays a pivotal role in eosinophil biology, driving their differentiation, maturation, and migration. By promoting eosinophil proliferation and activation, IL-5 contributes significantly to allergic reactions and asthma symptoms. Elevated levels of IL-5 have been linked to inflammatory disorders, including angioedema, eosinophilia, multiple sclerosis, and persistent asthma.
The Simoa® IL-5 Advantage PLUS assay (Product #105187) provides femtogram-level sensitivity for IL-5 detection using a fully automated workflow on the HD-X system. Offering lot-matched consistency, it ensures reliable results for large-scale and longitudinal studies.
For broader cytokine analysis, IL-5 can also be measured with the Simoa® Cytokine 4-Plex B (C4PB) Advantage PLUS assay, which simultaneously quantifies IL-17A, IL-4, IL-13, and IL-5. These assays are harmonized to deliver comparable and reproducible results.

Simoa® IL-5 Advantage PLUS is a digital immunoassay intended for the quantitative determination of IL-5 in human serum and EDTA plasma samples.
